practice sessions starts


Maldives national team has started their practices for the upcoming Asian Cup 2011 preliminary qualifying game against Lebanon, which will be played in Lebanon on 9 th of this month.

Practices were started on 2 nd of this month, but players that took part in New Radiant and Victory’s AFC cup games joined today except Victory keeper Imran Mohamed.

“I am tired, that’s why I didn’t join the practice today” Imran said.

“But will join from tomorrow (Saturday) onwards”

Injured New Radiant’s striker Ahmed Thoriq (TOM) also didn’t join the practices and his name has been removed from the list of 23 players as well.

National team with 18 players will depart on 7 th of this month to face Lebanon.

we need luck : gerd


New radiant coach Gerd stated that they need luck to win the match against Singapores armed force.Speaking at the news conference Gerd said that he hope that the team can show a good performance as they show in domestic games."we couldnt perform in last two AFC cup matches , i think that when the Maldivian players see bigger and stronger players from other teams they get scared,thats not professional and my players have to improve that" the German coach said.

New radiant ,2005 AFC cup semifinalist has lost both matches that they have played in the tournament unlike their opponent.SAFFC has won both matches and scored 10 goals

Meanwhile SAFFC's coach Richerd Bock said it will be a tough game and he is very happy that Ashfaag(dhagandey) is no longer in New radiant."last year also they gave a good fight and i dont think thats going to change this year.i hope both sides to perform well in tomorrows game" Bock stated.SAFFC's captian Duric said that it has been always hard to play against Maldivian sides and he want to score in tomorrows match.

Kick off time for tomorrows match is 1530 local time at Galolhu stadium.

Victory Departs

Victory sports club departed last night to face Singapore’s Home United in their third game of this year’s AFC Cup. A total of 18 players and seven officials travelled to the game that will be played on next Wednesday.

Victory has won only one point in two games so far in this year’s tournament. The first game played away from home ended 1-0 in favor of Malaysian outfit Kedah, but the reds grabbed their first point against Hong Kong’s South China in Male’.

Victory opponent Home United has won two of their encounters and scored 8 goals so far.
Meanwhile, Singapore Armed Forces FC (SAFFC) arrived Maldives last night to face New Radiant in their AFC cup game. New Radiant, a semi finalist of 2005’s tournament, is at the bottom of their respective group and is yet to win a point

Maldivian FA planing to play matches against Czech and Slovakian League sides.

FAM has announced that they are trying to play Friendly matches aggains Czech and Slovakian sides to prepare for the upcoming SAFF championship.Maldivian coach Joseph Jankech said that they are trying to bring high quality teams.He said that he has being speaking with both Slovakian
and Czech authorities.

Speaking at the news conference , FAM secretary Shah said that coach is requesting for matches with teams other then south asian sides.He added that FAM has Requested east asian countries like singapore , thiland and vietnam.

The 23 players squad which was announced yesterday includes 8 players from New Radiant SC, 6 players from Victory SC , 5 players from club valencia ,3 players from VB sports and 1 player from Maaziyaa RC.The squad include new players like Adam lareef ( ronaa) and previously suspended player sobah.

“Lebanon is a strong opponent” Jankech


On a meeting held in FAM house yesterday the Maldivian coach Joseph Jankech said that the Lebanese team is a strong opponent and it will be very hard to beat them."they area a strong side and they play a very technical football" said the Slovakian coach speaking about the Asian cup qualifier against Lebanon on April 9th away from home.

But the Slovakian coach is confident about his players and expect a good results against Lebanon especially about the second match which will be played on home soil.

The national team will start their practice sessions on second of this month,but the normal practices will start on forth when the players from new radiant and victory are available after their AFC cup matches.
